SIKESTON JAYCEE BOOTHEEL RODEO ANNOUNCES WEDNESDAY NIGHT EVENTS
First Entertainer Announced for the 66th Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, Aug. 8-11
SIKESTON, Mo.: At a press conference on March 23, 2018, a video announced the upcoming entertainers for the 2018 Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. Kicking it off Wednesday night Aug. 8 is Chris Janson.
Nominated by the Academy of Country Music for 2017 and 2016 New Male Vocalist of the Year, Chris Janson has been a country music staple since he wrote Tim McGraw’s 2012 classic “Truck Yeah,” and in 2015, Janson’s single “Buy Me a Boat” became a No. 3 hit on Billboard’s Country Airplay. Due to his immense success and stage charisma, in February 2018, Keith Urban invited the Perryville, Mo., native to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
“Every year, we try to bring in an area native who’s made it big,” said Ross Merideth, 2018 Rodeo chairman. “Chris Janson is an inspiration to many in Southeast Missouri because of his journey to country music stardom and local small-town roots. His performances are always dynamic as well as engaging, and we’re sure Wednesday night Rodeo goers will have a great time during his concert.”
Rodeo officials are also dubbing Aug. 8 Sikeston Community Night. “We’re eager to celebrate and thank the residents and businesses of Sikeston,” said Merideth. “The Rodeo is an amazing achievement, and we couldn’t continue to do it without Sikeston’s support. Stay tuned for additional information.”
