The Jr. Miss Pageant is open to all young women between the ages of 14 and 18, who are still in school, have never been married or have had a child.
The Miss Rodeo Contest is open to all young women who have obtained the age of 17 years and shall not have reached the age of 25 by January 1, 2021. The Miss Contestant must be a high school graduate, have never been married or have had a child.
The Miss Rodeo and Jr. Miss Rodeo Queen will participate in the publicity for this year’s rodeo. They will be expected to make a Queen’s lap around the arena each night of the rodeo, as they are introduced. The Queens will also participate in the Rodeo Parade and any other public appearances scheduled by the rodeo committee.
The contestants of this pageant will be asked to sign a contract stating that they understand it is mandatory to be present at all rodeo functions the week before rodeo, the week of rodeo, and any other events deemed necessary if crowned queen.
There will be a practice opportunity Monday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the rodeo grounds.
The contestants will be judged on horsemanship and rodeo knowledge, overall appearance, poise, vocabulary, manners, modeling, and speech. Both pageants will consist of three categories:
3.On Stage (modeling, speech, and question)
Jr. Miss and Miss will perform a 1-1 ½ minute speech. The Jr. Miss topic will be about their hometown or what rodeo means to you. The Miss topic will be about the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.
**The points for this year’s pageant will be accumulated throughout the entire contest! **

Saturday, July 10 – 8:30 a.m. – Jr. Miss Horsemanship and Miss Horsemanship contests will take place at the Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. Personal horses should be used.
**ALL CONTESTANTS MUST WEAR A PLAIN WHITE SHIRT AND DENIM JEANS FOR THIS PORTION OF THE CONTEST! **
Any color of hat, boots, and belt may be worn. The judges are strictly judging your horsemanship. Please have your horses ready promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, July 10 – 10:30 a.m. (or 30 minutes after the last Miss contestant if allotted time should go over) – Jr. Miss and Miss Interviews – Jaycee Rodeo Grounds (inside the metal barn). The horsemanship attire will be worn for this portion of the contest (white shirt, denim jeans, etc.).
Saturday, July 10 – 7:00 p.m. – Jr. Miss and Miss Coronation – Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. You will be judged on your appearance, on stage question, speech and modeling.
**Miss attire should consist of one (1) casual western outfit, which will be modeled first,
and one (1) dressy western outfit.
**Jr. Miss attire should consist of one (1) casual western outfit only.

- Flag Lap – Use the full arena to make one slow lap, then one fast lap (you will hand off the flag at the gate then continue the pattern with a Queen’s Lap).
- Queen’s Lap – Use the full arena.
- Stop at point“A” (top of the Main Chutes).
- Make a Figure Eight in the middle of the arena.
- Stop again at point“A”.
- Exit arena.
